Gloria! Margherita Vicario

At the dawn of the 19th century, the religious institute of Sant’Ignazio is preparing for a visit from the new Pope, Pius VII. But within the convent walls, a choir of young orphan girls led by Perlina is struggling to find inspiration. It is Teresa, a young mute servant with an exceptional musical gift, who will change everything. The girls take their destiny into their own hands and come up with revolutionary music, far from the classical canons. Margherita Vicario delivers an astonishing debut feature: a lively, ironic and catchy musical that blends history and rebellion, early music and contemporary pop. A colourful and daring tribute to the many forgotten women musicians, trained but silenced, who here find their voice again – and cry out their freedom.
